Patient Information
Crestor (rosuvastatin) is a statin used to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease in people with elevated levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) or triglycerides. It also may reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Uses
Lowering LDL levels reduces the risk of cardiovascular events and reduces the risk of stroke in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Additionally, people with NAFLD may have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular events, such as heart attack or stroke, compared to people without NAFLD.
How to Use It
Take Crestor regularly and if you should take it, take it regularly with a glass of water. It is usually taken with or without food. You should take it at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of the medication in your blood. It is important to continue taking it even when you feel well. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Do not use it for more than 14 days. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
Drug Interactions

If you are taking Crestor with any of the above medications, talk to your doctor before you start taking any new medications. Do not take any other medications without telling the doctor.
If you are using any of the other interactions listed earlier, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history.
It is very important that you take all of your medications as prescribed, even if you feel well. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Important Note:If any of the interactions listed below are affecting your well-being, you should talk to your doctor first. Do not stop using any medications without first consulting with your doctor.
Drug and Food Interactions
Crestor may affect how well you tolerate it. You should always tell your doctor or pharmacist about all of the medications you are taking, even those that may not be fully cleared for you to take.
Disease Interactions
Crestor may interact with some medicines, especially:
If any of these interactions affect you, your doctor may need to adjust your dosage or change you up your therapy. Your doctor may also need to change your therapy based on your health condition.
Important Notes
For your safety, tell your doctor if you have ever had stomach ulcers, such as that caused by Crestor.
Taking Crestor with antacids may help reduce the risk of stomach or intestinal surgery, such as coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
Do not take Crestor if you are also using a blood pressure medicine, digoxin, or other diabetes medicine without telling your doctor.
Crestor may also lower a very important blood pressure threshold called the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) binding assay.
Crestor (rosuvastatin) is a statin drug that reduces your cholesterol and decreases your triglyceride (cholesterol) levels. It is widely used to lower high-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels in people with type 2 diabetes or to lower cholesterol levels in people with high-risk factors for developing cardiovascular diseases (such as high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes). It's also used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other heart-related problems.
Rosuvastatin is a drug prescribed to lower levels of LDL cholesterol. It is used for the treatment of high LDL cholesterol (LDL) levels. When you take Rosuvastatin, it reduces your LDL cholesterol levels. Rosuvastatin is taken as an injection, once a day. Your doctor will monitor your cholesterol levels regularly.
Rosuvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering drug, along with a combination of it and a low-cholesterol diet. It is prescribed to reduce your risk of developing heart disease and stroke, as well as preventing cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.
The recommended dose is 10 mg, once a day. If you are taking it at the same time, you should take it at the same time each day. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours, unless your doctor tells you to. Your doctor will tell you how many times to take it. You should take it at the same time each day.
In adults with coronary artery disease, 10 mg/day is the recommended dose.
Store it below 30°C. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep it out of the reach of children.
Use rosuvastatin with a special measuring device that measures the dose and frequency of administration. You should use the measuring device at regular intervals and not more than one dose of rosuvastatin per day. Your doctor will help you to store the medicine properly. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
Crestor (rosuvastatin) is a prescription medicine for the treatment of heart failure. It reduces the amount of blood cholesterol (LDL) in your blood by blocking the action of cholesterol on the liver. It is used to lower the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, and peripheral artery disease (such as peripheral artery disease or angina). Crestor is also used to treat high cholesterol, which is a risk factor for heart disease.
Crestor (rosuvastatin) is used in people with a history of heart failure or liver disease. It is not recommended for use in people who have recently had heart failure, as it may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other heart-related problems. In children, it is used to treat high cholesterol and to prevent heart attack or stroke in adults.
If you have any of the following health problems, you should be careful about using Crestor. These include:

As a result of the FDA approval for the treatment of diabetes, the company has also received reports of people having heart attacks and strokes, and even deaths.
As a result of these reports, the FDA has issued a safety notice for the company.
In October 2017, the FDA received FDA reports of a case of anaphylaxis, a potentially fatal allergic reaction, and in December 2017, the FDA issued an advisory panel to investigate the use of statins in people with congestive heart failure.
This case was handled by the FDA’s Division of Antimicrobial Resistance (DRAM) division, and it was also the first reported of a statin-associated death from cardiovascular disease.
In February 2018, the FDA released a warning for the use of rosuvastatin and other statins in patients with diabetes.
